The most underestimated constraint remains safety zones. Each platform superimposes its own interface elements - usernames, share buttons, counters - which can mask part of your composition. I keep internal margins of 5 to 10% on each edge and place essential information in the center. A simple precaution that avoids painful cropping after publication.
Three reading levels

The carousel deserves a separate mention, because it regularly outperforms the single image in engagement, both on Instagram and LinkedIn. On LinkedIn, the carousel is uploaded like a PDF document that you scroll through, which changes the way it's made. In both cases, my rule is the same: the first slide is a stand-alone hook, the second immediately rewards the swipe, and the last carries a clear call to action. Visual continuity from one slide to the next, but enough variation to justify each page. And a test that many forget: check the rendering in dark mode, because a growing proportion of users are there, and a pure white background with subtle shadows falls flat.
Text-in-image AI has changed production
This is the area where everything has changed in the last year. For a long time, integrating readable text into an AI-generated image was a nightmare - distorted gibberish. This is no longer true. The numbers often contradict the designer's intuition, and that's fine - humility in the face of data is a professional skill, not a weakness. Over the course of campaigns, I build a library of validated patterns specific to each brand and audience, because what works for CFOs on LinkedIn won't work for content creators on Instagram.
